Barbell Society is a community of individuals who believe in STRENGTH! Olympic Weightlifting is our focus. The primary lifts are the Snatch and Clean & Jerk. Olympic-style weightlifting, or officially “Weightlifting” is the style of weightlifting contested at the Olympic Games. The events of weightlifting, or “lifts”, test virtually all of the muscles in an athlete’s body (including but not limited to, the legs, the back. the shoulders, the arms, the grip and the core) – more muscles than any other single sport.
The snatch and clean and jerk bring speed, power, coordination, agility, accuracy and balance to training and are indispensable to developing a well-rounded athlete – no special level of strength is required. The training for the sport brings about phenomenal increases in strength and power that are unequaled by any other form of athletic training. Weightlifting will literally transform the ordinary person to superman and superwoman!
Our 60 minute Coach led group weightlifting sessions will start with a specific warm-up, strength work (using the main lifts), movement breakdown, video analysis and a cool-down. Professional programming is designed for rapid improvement for newcomers and veteran Weightlifters.
